"A Tenakth prison. Or a Carja graveyard, depending on how you look at it."
Lel[1]

The Rot is an unmarked location in Horizon Forbidden West. It is a Tenakth prison located on the Long Coast.

Description

The Rot is built over the collapsed remains of an Old World hotel.[2]

History

Background

During the Red Raids, Nessa and other Carja were sent to the Rot after being captured in battle. At some point, Marshal Fashav visited the location and saw a kindred spirit in her, giving her a chance to earn her survival, which she did, renouncing her Carja background and joined the Lowland Clan of the Tenakth, becoming Ritakka.[3]

Horizon Forbidden West

Sometime after Regalla's attack on the Embassy, rebels seized the Rot. Ritakka's squad was sent to retake it, but failed and were imprisoned instead.[3] The squad would later be liberated by Aloy, Talanah, and Amadis, who had come to the prison in search of Nessa. Ritakka revealed herself to have been Nessa and left.[4]
