- "You've been using explosives?"
"Sure. To clear away bedrock and get to the good stuff. We do it for a week or so every year." - ―Aloy, Quarry Foreman[1]
Cut-Cliffs is a small Carja settlement in Horizon Zero Dawn, built around a large quarry.
Description
Cut-Cliffs is a settlement built next to a quarry due north of Meridian. Workers use explosives for a week or so every year to clear away bedrock.[2]
In comparison to other Carja settlements, Cut-Cliffs is far less ornate and artistic in its construction, consisting of little more than a few simple wooden structures.
History
Background
Cut-Cliff was formed before or during the reign of Sun-King Jiran, where the future Quarry Foreman and his friend worked as slaves in the quarry.[2]

Aloy investigating the quarry.[1]
One night, five guards in the quarry were torn apart, which confused the workers as the quarry is fenced, and Glinthawks don't tend to cause that kind of damage.[2] When Aloy went to investigate, she discovered that a Rockbreaker that had burrowed into the quarry was responsible and eliminated it.[1]
